Haltech - Digital Displays
Digital Displays
Haltech digital dashes replace the guesswork of analogue gauges with clear, configurable data that keeps your engine safe and your lap times consistent. A well-designed display is more than a speedo and a rev counter. It is a live view into what the ECU is seeing, how the engine is responding, and whether anything needs attention before it becomes expensive.
Start with visibility. A proper motorsport display shows the channels that matter without clutter. RPM with a progressive shift light. Coolant, oil pressure, oil temperature, fuel pressure, lambda, and battery voltage. If you are running forced induction, add boost and intake air temperature. For track use, you will want predictive lap timing with sector splits so you can feel where time is gained or lost. For road cars, configure a road-legible layout with large numerals and clear warnings for pressure or temperature limits.
Integration is straightforward because Haltech dashes speak natively to Haltech ECUs over CAN. That means minimal wiring, reliable updates in real time, and the ability to log direct to the dash. Logging matters. If the car stumbles once a session, you need to know why. Pull the file, overlay channels, and you can trace an intermittent fuel pressure drop or a heat-soaked intake that pushes timing out. Good logging saves weekends.
Build quality and readability count. Sunlight-readable screens, robust housings, sealed connectors, and mounting that survives kerbs and gravel traps. Night use needs a dimmable backlight that is gentle on eyes and cameras. Most users configure multiple pages for different tasks. One minimal road page. One full diagnostic page for warm-up. One performance page for the track with lap delta and alarms armed.
Alarms are where digital displays earn their keep. Set thresholds for oil pressure that scale with RPM, rather than a single number that is wrong at idle or cruise. Add IAT limits that warn early on hot days. If lambda goes lean under load, the dash should shout so you lift off. You can even trigger outputs on some setups, cutting boost or closing a throttle if a limit is breached.
Customisation is the finishing touch. Choose colour bands on the shift light to match your redline, use team branding on the splash screen, and tune the font sizes for quick reading in a vibrating cabin. For endurance cars, include fuel level, estimated laps remaining, and pit-lane speed limiting feedback. For drag cars, put trans=brake and launch data front and centre.
In short, a Haltech digital display turns data into decisions. It helps you protect the engine, tune with confidence, and drive better. Fit once, configure it to your use case, and you will wonder how you managed without it.
