Getting these components right — matched to your intended bore size, stroke, compression ratio, and power level — is the difference between an engine that makes power reliably for years and one that fails prematurely or never reaches its potential.

Pistons — The Foundation of Compression and Power
Piston selection is one of the most critical decisions in any engine build. The wrong piston — whether too heavy, the wrong compression height for your rod and stroke combination, or manufactured to inadequate tolerances — will limit power, increase wear, or in serious cases cause catastrophic failure. Our piston range covers the full spectrum of American V8 applications.
Forged pistons from specialists like Wiseco and Diamond Pistons offer the strength-to-weight ratio demanded by high-performance and forced induction applications. Forging aligns the grain structure of the aluminium, producing a component that can withstand the mechanical and thermal stresses of high boost, high compression, or high-RPM operation far beyond the capability of cast alternatives. Our forged piston range covers popular LS, LT, Small Block Chevy, Big Block Chevy, and Ford bore sizes with multiple compression ratio options to suit naturally aspirated builds and boosted applications alike.
Hypereutectic and cast pistons serve street and mild performance applications where extreme duty isn't required — offering excellent durability, good thermal properties, and lower cost for engines that will see regular street use within normal power levels.
Crankshafts — Stroke, Material, and Balance
The crankshaft defines your engine's stroke and therefore, alongside bore diameter, its displacement. A quality crankshaft must be dimensionally accurate, properly balanced, and manufactured from material appropriate to your power level and intended use. Our crankshaft range covers standard-stroke and stroker applications across the major American V8 families, with options in cast iron for mild builds and forged steel for high-performance applications where rotating mass strength is non-negotiable.
Stroker crankshafts allow you to extract additional displacement from an existing block — a 350 Small Block Chevy becomes a 383 or 400+ cubic inch combination with the right crank, rod, and piston selection. This approach delivers the low-end torque and mid-range pulling power that makes a street-driven performance car or truck both exciting and usable in real-world conditions.
Piston Rings — Sealing, Oil Control, and Power Retention
Piston rings perform three critical functions: sealing combustion pressure, controlling oil consumption, and transferring heat from the piston to the cylinder wall. A quality ring set matched to your bore diameter and surface finish is essential for both initial engine performance and long-term durability. We stock ring sets for standard and oversized bore applications across popular American V8 families, with options suited to both standard honing and performance plateau honing finishes.
Harmonic Balancers — Protecting Your Crankshaft
A harmonic balancer — also known as a crankshaft damper — absorbs the torsional vibrations produced by combustion pulses acting on the crankshaft. Without a properly functioning balancer, these vibrations accumulate and can cause crankshaft fatigue and failure, particularly in high-performance applications running elevated RPM for extended periods. We stock OEM-specification replacement balancers, high-performance units with enhanced damping characteristics for modified engines, and SFI-certified dampers for competition use where safety regulations require them.
Crankshaft Pulleys and Related Hardware
Crankshaft pulleys, pulley spacers, and related hardware complete the front-of-engine package.
