Fuel System
Fuel System — Complete Fuel Delivery Solutions
The fuel system is the network of components that stores, filters, pressurises, and delivers fuel from the tank to the engine. Every component in this chain — pump, filter, regulator, lines, and fittings — must work together reliably under all operating conditions to ensure the engine receives the correct fuel flow and pressure at all times. A weak link anywhere in the fuel system directly affects engine performance, reliability, and in worst cases engine safety.
Billy's Speed Shop stocks a comprehensive range of fuel system components for carburetted and EFI American performance applications, covering everything from replacement in-tank pumps for classic trucks through to high-flow external pumps, billet fuel rails, precision pressure regulators, and the complete AN plumbing to connect it all together cleanly and reliably.
Building a Reliable Fuel System
A performance fuel system begins with adequate tank capacity and a clean fuel supply — whether that's a replacement steel tank for a classic truck restoration or an aluminium fuel cell for a dedicated performance build. From the tank, the pump must deliver sufficient flow at the correct pressure for the engine's fuel demand. A pump that's marginal at wide-open-throttle causes lean conditions precisely when the engine is working hardest — the worst possible time for fuel delivery to become a limiting factor.
Downstream of the pump, filtration removes contaminants that would otherwise damage precision injectors and carburettor components. A correctly sized regulator maintains stable fuel pressure regardless of engine load and pump output variation. And quality fuel lines and AN fittings complete the circuit with leak-free connections that will last the life of the vehicle.
Fuel Pumps — Electric and Mechanical
Our fuel pump range covers in-tank electric pumps for OEM-style installations, high-flow external pumps for performance applications, and traditional mechanical pumps for carburetted Small Block and Big Block Chevrolet engines. Correct pump selection requires matching flow capacity to the engine's fuel demand at peak power — with appropriate headroom for the pressure drop across the filter and regulator.
Fuel Tanks and Cells
Replacement fuel tanks in aluminised and stainless steel for classic Chevy and GMC trucks restore correct fuel system function with modern materials resistant to ethanol-blended fuels. Correct sending unit selection ensures accurate gauge reading in both original-equipment and aftermarket gauge installations.
Filters, Regulators, Lines and Fittings
Inline fuel filters, adjustable pressure regulators, braided stainless fuel hose, AN fittings, and clamp-on hose ends complete the fuel system package. Our Earl's-dominated AN plumbing range is the most comprehensive in our catalogue — covering every size, angle, and configuration needed to build a clean, professional fuel system in any performance application.
