Nitrous Oxide Systems
Nitrous Oxide Systems — Safe, Effective, and Tunable Power
Nitrous oxide remains one of the most cost-effective methods of adding significant power to any petrol engine. The chemistry is straightforward: nitrous oxide decomposes at combustion temperatures to release additional oxygen, allowing more fuel to be burned and more energy to be released per combustion event. The result is a power increase proportional to the amount of nitrous injected — from a mild 25–50 horsepower hit on a street-driven system to several hundred horsepower on purpose-built competition combinations.
With 457 products from NOS, Nitrous Outlet, and Nitrous Express — three of the most respected names in nitrous oxide systems — Billy's Speed Shop has one of the most comprehensive nitrous ranges available. Whether you're looking for your first plate system on a street car or building a dedicated competition nitrous combination, we have the system, jets, solenoids, and accessories to do it right.
Plate Systems — Simple, Effective Street Power
Wet plate nitrous systems distribute nitrous and supplemental fuel through a plate that fits between the carburettor or throttle body and intake manifold. They're the most popular choice for street and occasional strip use because of their simplicity, clean installation, and easy jetting changes that allow the power level to be adjusted. A quality plate system installed and jettted correctly produces safe, consistent power with the button pressed and returns to perfectly normal operation when the system is off — there's no idle quality penalty, no drivability compromise, and minimal complexity compared to other forced induction approaches.
Direct Port Systems — Maximum Power Distribution
Direct port nitrous systems inject nitrous and fuel at each individual cylinder — the most effective distribution method for high-power applications where consistent cylinder-to-cylinder delivery is critical. While more complex to install than a plate system, direct port setups are the choice for serious competition applications where extracting every horsepower matters and the distribution limitations of a plate system at very high power levels are unacceptable.
Nitrous Jets — Power Level Calibration
Nitrous jets are the primary tuning tool for any nitrous system — jet size determines the mass flow rate of nitrous and supplemental fuel, setting the power level of the system. Going up in jet size increases the power level; going down reduces it. Our comprehensive jet range covers the full spectrum of sizes for both NOS and Nitrous Express systems, allowing precise power level calibration and the flexibility to run different setups for different events.
Controllers, Switches, and Safety Systems
Quality nitrous system activation components ensure the system fires correctly and safely. Micro-switch activation from wide-open-throttle is the standard for competition applications. Progressive controllers allow the nitrous to be ramped in gradually over time rather than hit all at once — reducing the shock to the drivetrain and allowing traction to be maintained while still delivering the full power level at the end of the run. Pressure gauges allow monitoring of bottle pressure throughout an event.
