More Power from Chevrolet’s Largest LT-Series Engine

The L8P is Chevrolet’s highest displacement LT-series crate engine, developed to deliver significant low to mid range torque with enhanced high rpm power capability. Rated at 523 horsepower and 543 lb ft, the L8P provides a broad torque curve and increased airflow capacity, making it suitable for heavy duty builds, large displacement conversions and performance oriented custom projects that require robust bottom end strength.

This engine is based on the Gen V Small Block architecture but incorporates key changes over the L8T, including a higher lift hydraulic roller camshaft, uprated valvetrain components and revised induction characteristics. These upgrades increase airflow, improve combustion stability and yield a notable rise in peak power without sacrificing reliability.

Installation Requirements

  • Requires high pressure direct injection fuel pump installed

  • Front End Accessory Drive System must be ordered separately and includes hydraulic power steering. Pulley mounted fans are not recommended

  • Suits engines using the 19435224 Control Kit for 6L80 E transmissions. See manufacturer notes for 10L90 options

  • Includes eight bolt flexplate

  • Assembly does not include electronics, harness, oxygen sensors or Front End Accessory Drive components

Notes

The L8P crate engine includes the complete rotating assembly, induction and ignition hardware. Electronics, ECU, loom and FEAD components are not supplied. Designed for premium unleaded fuel.

This engine is intended for retrofit use in pre 1976 street vehicles or purpose built off road applications.
